The North Vancouver Wolf Pack came within minutes of a big road win in Aldergrove on Wednesday night, but the Ironmen rallied late and snatched a 5–4 overtime victory in Pacific Junior Hockey League action.
The Pack got off to an ideal start when Braydon Suderman opened the scoring at 4:29 of the first, finishing a feed from Ryan Tse and Joshua Moussodji to make it 1–0. Aldergrove equalized early in the second, but North Vancouver struck back quickly as Gus Tucker buried one at 11:22, set up by Mack Souter and Tse. Just 16 seconds later, Moussodji added another, his first in the PJHL from Suderman to push the Wolf Pack ahead 3–1.
The Ironmen clawed back to within one, but the Wolf Pack restored their two-goal cushion in the third. At 8:57, Tucker struck again, once more assisted by Souter and Tse, giving North Vancouver a 4–2 lead. It looked like the visitors might ride strong special-teams play and timely scoring to a statement win.
But Aldergrove wasn’t done. The Ironmen scored at 17:19 to pull within one, then found the equalizer on the power play with just 1:15 left in regulation. That sent the game to overtime, where Aldergrove’s Nolan Dufour netted the winner at 4:30, sealing the comeback.
Despite the loss, there were positives for the Pack. Tucker had a two-goal night, while Tse, Souter, Suderman and Moussodji each chipped in multi-point efforts. Goaltender Christian Hahn faced 27 shots and held his team in the game under heavy pressure. North Vancouver managed 41 shots of their own and demonstrated offensive chemistry across multiple lines.
The Wolf Pack will be disappointed to leave Aldergrove with just a single point after leading by two in the third, but the resilience shown on the road and the scoring contributions from their top forwards provide a strong foundation as the season rolls on. They’ll get a shot at redemption as the Ironmen visit The Den at Harry Jerome this Saturday night the the second game of the home-at-home series.
