The North Vancouver Wolf Pack jumped out to an early lead and held firm down the stretch to earn a 3–2 victory over the Aldergrove Ironmen on Saturday night at Harry Jerome Arena. Powered by a three-goal first period and a 43–28 edge in shots, the Pack collected an important win on home ice.
North Van struck early when Owen Tripp opened the scoring at 3:00 of the first period. Aldergrove’s Daniel Evans tied the game at 8:29, but the Pack regained the lead just 20 seconds later as Braydon Suderman buried a setup from Lucas Davidson. Davidson added a late insurance marker at 18:13, finishing Suderman’s feed to give North Van a 3–1 advantage after one.
The second period tightened up, with both sides trading penalties and neither team finding the back of the net. North Van’s penalty killers held strong, limiting Aldergrove’s chances and preserving the two-goal cushion heading into the final frame.
The Ironmen made things interesting late. Tate Paula scored at 15:45 of the third to cut the lead to one, and Aldergrove pressed in the final minutes, but the Pack held their structure defensively and limited high-danger chances, protecting the slim lead to the buzzer. Goaltender Marcus Taylor stopped 26 of 28 shots, while Aldergrove’s netminder turned aside 40 of 43.
In the end, the Wolf Pack’s explosive opening period proved decisive. Suderman and Davidson led the charge offensively, Tripp provided the spark, and Taylor and the team’s defensive discipline sealed the win. The 3–2 result extends North Van’s strong home-ice form and sets the tone for the games ahead.
The Pack is back at it again tomorrow evening, 5:15PM at the Port Moody Recreation Complex, as they look to avenge their lopsided loss to the Panthers last weekend. You can catch all of the action of FloHockey.
