Wolf Pack Rally Falls Short in 8–5 Loss to Panthers

PORT MOODY — A furious third-period push wasn’t enough for the North Vancouver Wolf Pack Sunday night, as they fell 8–5 to the Port Moody Panthers in a high-scoring road game at the Port Moody Recreation Complex. Trailing by four entering the final frame, the Pack clawed back to within one but couldn’t complete the comeback against a sharp Panthers attack.

Port Moody came out fast, striking twice in the opening period to build a 2–0 lead. The Panthers added to their advantage early in the second before the Wolf Pack found their footing. Ryan Tse got North Van on the board at 1:20 of the middle frame, assisted by Ciaran Henry, cutting the deficit to 3–1. Port Moody replied minutes later, but the Pack kept pace offensively. Lucas Davidson scored at 8:50, and Joshua Moussodji followed at 13:38 on a setup from Tse to make it 5–3. Still, Port Moody struck twice more before intermission to restore a commanding 7–3 cushion.

The Wolf Pack refused to go quietly. Davidson struck again just 1:20 into the third period, finishing a feed from Braydon Suderman to narrow the gap. Suderman then scored one of his own at 8:03 off a pass from Gus Tucker, pulling North Van within a single goal at 7–5 and swinging momentum toward the visitors.

The comeback bid ultimately fell short. The Panthers answered quickly at 9:16 to regain a two-goal lead, then sealed the result with a shorthanded, empty-netter in the final minute. Despite the loss, North Van’s third-period surge showcased their resilience and ability to generate quick offense under pressure.

Port Moody outshot the Wolf Pack 47–21, but North Van capitalized on their limited opportunities and showed spark in the final frame. Goaltender Marcus Taylor faced 46 shots and made 39 saves in a busy night, while the Pack’s scorers found their rhythm late. North Van will look to carry that third-period momentum forward as they continue their road swing.

Next up is the Surrey Knights on Thursday night.
