Wolf Pack earn a point vs. Mission

The Wolf Pack played Mission for the third time this season to kick off their set of games at the PJHL’s Winter Classic from Minoru Arena. The game marked the fourth time in history that the Outlaws and Wolf Pack have played one another during the Winter Classic. The Wolf Pack would end up losing this game 4-3 in overtime. Corson Penman, Jonathan Soares, and Trevor Baron all scored for North Vancouver. Callum Tung stopped 30 shots in his Wolf Pack debut.

 1st Period:

NV – Ryan Hunter had control of the puck in the neutral zone and found Corson Penman who crept in all alone for a breakaway goal. Penman’s goal was the 10th of the season and opened up the floodgates for both teams. Bergen George collected a secondary assist on the goal that was scored at 6:19.

MIS –  Blake Clease snuck in a backhand shot to tie the game at one at the 16:14 mark. Kade Padgham drew the lone assist on the final goal of the period.

2nd Period:

MIS –  Blake Clease got his second of the game and gave the Outlaws their first lead of the game with 18:18 remaining in the second period. Clease sniped the puck from the left side for the goal while Brendan Chabot and Brayden Chenier earned assists.

MIS – Kade Padgham and Cayden Karcioglu worked together on a Brendan Chabot goal (8) that gave the Outlaws a 3-1 lead. The puck was sniped from the right side of the net securing a Power Play goal at 5:35.

3rd Period:

NV – Jonathan Soares (5) got the comeback bid started when he slid the puck through the five-hole of Outlaws’ goaltender Brian Dale. The goal was the first of two that North Vancouver would end up scoring on their five minute power play. This power play marker was unassisted at 10:15.

NV – North Vancouver tied the game at three exactly 49 seconds after their second goal. Ryan Hunter went to work allowing Trevor Baron to score his 9th goal of the season at the 10:54 mark.

Overtime:

MIS – An unassisted goal also happened to be the game winning goal for Mission with Outlaws forward Owen Elson securing the extra point for his squad. Elson’s 10th goal came 1:47 into the overtime period.

Final Words

This was the third meeting of the season between these two clubs and first at the PJHL Winter Classic. The Outlaws defeated the Wolf Pack 5-0 on October 15 as Kyle Sackmann scored twice and added two assists while Brian Dale earned the shutout. North Vancouver took the second and most recent contest with a 4-2 victory over Mission on December 3rd at Harry Jerome. The season series concludes on February 5th in North Vancouver.
