Ice Hawks Double Wolf Pack 6-3

This morning, the Wolf Pack concluded their Winter Showcase in Richmond with a 6-3 defeat to the wings of the Delta Ice Hawks. Carson Merriman (1G-3A) led the charge for Delta while Carniel (10), Wong (1), and Binette (10) all scored for the Wolf Pack.

BOX SCORE

1st Period:

DEL – Carson Merriman tapped home a loose puck to give Delta an early 1-0 lead, 3:50 into the first period. Merriman’s twelfth goal of the season was assisted by Alec Scouras and Henry Smith.

 

DEL – Dalton MacGillivray (22) doubled the Ice Hawks lead with his top shelf shot that snuck past the blocker of Damian Perovic. Carson Merriman and Alec Scouras drew assists on the goal that was scored at 13:29.

 

NV – The Wolf Pack got on the board thanks to a low blocker side shot that ended up behind Euerby making it a 2-1 game. Matthew Carniel’s 10th goal of the season was unassisted at 16:42.

 

NV – JJ Pickell provided the screen, but it was Jonathan Wong (1) who’s shot from the point tied the game at 2. Corson Penman was credited with an assist at 18:01.

2nd Period:

 DEL – The Ice Hawks regained the lead on the Power Play at the 3:40 mark of the second period. Scouras (18) got the goal and MacGillivray and Merriman got the assists.

 

DEL – Delta jumped out to a 4-2 lead with 12:11 remaining in the period as a point shot by Ben Kjernsted deflected off of a Wolf Pack player and in the net. Merriman factored in on the goal.

 

DEL – Yuji Akimoto fired home a top shelf shot from the right side making it a 5-2 game for Delta. The goal was unassisted at 11:31.

 

NV – The Captain Alex Binette was determined to get his team back in the game by scoring a goal and he did just that. With 16:11 remaining in the middle frame, Binette who was down on his knees managed to sneak a shot past the pads of Euerby and into the net to bring the Wolf Pack to within two goals of tying the game. The score became 5-3 for Delta.

3rd Period:

DEL – A tic tac toe play gave the Ice Hawks a 6-3 lead on the Power Play. Kalamaras (7) got the goal while Akimoto and Hemenway earned the assists at 14:24.
