PREVIEW: Grandview Steelers vs. North Van Wolf Pack (Game #2)

Tonight marks the beginning of season 15 for the Wolf Pack at home. The Pack are coming off a 5-1 season opening loss to the Langley Trappers while Grandview enters the game off a 4-2 road loss in Aldergrove. This is the third week this month that these two teams will battle one another, but the first time in the regular season.

The Steelers are entering the game tonight off a 4-2 loss Wednesday night in Aldergrove. Nathan Bran opened the scoring for both teams in the second period. Bran (2003) is a right-shot forward from Coquitlam, BC. Bran is in his second season with Grandview and finished the 2021-22 season with 11 points in 43 games.

 

‘BRUNO’ MARS

Jim Camazzola spent the last two seasons as head coach of the Steelers and made the decision to step away from the team at the end of last season. Camazzola is being replaced by Aldo Bruno who will now pretty much do it all for the Steelers! On top of the head coaching responsibilities, Bruno is the team’s governor, vice president, and general manager.

MUST GET MORE ‘PICKEL’LS

At the 16:33 mark of the first period in Wednesday’s game forward JJ Pickell sniped a shot in Langley for his first goal of the season. Pickell opened the scoring book for the season for North Vancouver, but it is the only goal that the Wolf Pack have been able to score so far. Pickell (2003) is from North Vancouver and is expected to carry the Wolf Pack on the scoresheet this season.

 

Wolf Pack to participate in Terry Fox Run tomorrow 

On Sunday, September 18th the Wolf Pack will be participating in the 42nd annual Terry Fox run. 🍁👟This event is the first community event that the team is set to participate in during season 15. Terry wanted to be an example of perseverance and courage. Terry’s no-quit attitude inspires us to dream more, do more, and be more. Fans can donate to the Terry Fox Foundation through an online link in or bio or by bringing cash to our game tomorrow. Help us reach our goal of $200!!   • JJ Pickell and Ryan Hunter wore A’s on their jerseys on Wednesday. Both players were alternate captain’s last season.
  • 10 players on the Wolf Pack are back from last season
  • Alex Binette (F) and Nik Jerris (G) are the only 20 year olds on the Wolf Pack.

 

Final Words

After tonight’s game, three more regular season games remain against the Grandview Steelers. These two teams compete against each other twice in November (Nov. 9, Nov. 20) both in Grandview. The four game regular season series concludes in North Vancouver on February 11.
