PREVIEW: Surrey Knights vs. North Van Wolf Pack (Game #14)

The Wolf Pack defeated the Knights in the first-ever meeting between the two clubs on Thursday, October 6, 2016. North Vancouver won 6-3. Jack Tadey scored the 5th goal of the night for the wolves. Tades now serves as the team’s Strength and Conditioning Coach. 

Tonight, the Wolf Pack (3-9-1-0) host the Knights (3-12-1-0) for a 6:45PM puck drop.

JAKE THE SNAKE

The pride of Langley, BC is playing in his second season with the Surrey Knights. Jake Thompson leads his team in points with 5G-12A-17PTS in 16 games. The right-handed forward checks in at 5’8” and 155lbs. Thompson had 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points in 43 games in a Knights uniform last season. Jake has not scored in the last five games dating back to October 13 against Grandview.

The team’s home victory was on the Sunshine Coast. The Wolf Pack still haven’t won at Harry Jerome this season.

Pollock had his first in the PJHL while Binette (4), Zitko (6), Pickell (9) PP and Jarman (1) rounded out the scoring.

BRANDEN POLLOCK

Branden Pollock, West Vancouver, BC, is suiting up in his 15th game of the season. Pollock is in his first season in the PJHL and scored his first goal last night in Abbotsford. The 2004-born defenceman checks in at 5’1” and 160lbs. 

 

DIFFERENT WOLVES

North Vancouver has made a number of acquisitions and trades in the early stages of the season. Most recently the Pack dealt forward Sam Cordina to White Rock for a player development fee, acquired JJ Mauro from the Richmond Sockeyes for future considerations, and dealt defenceman Emil Eriksson to the Nanaimo Buccaneers for a player development fee. Corson Penman also made his highlighly anticipated return to North Vancouver after a stint with the Dryden Ice Dogs in the SIJHL. Defenceman Ethan Szeto (05’) and goaltender Nick Mayne were released by the club earlier this week.

 

NOTES

  • This is the final game of the month for both clubs.
  • Ryan Hunter is sitting out from his ⅔ games due to a suspension he received last weekend against Chilliwack.
  • The Wolf Pack have won two consecutive games (5-2 vs CHI, 5-3 vs ABB)
  • Luke Bradley and Matthew Carniel will wear A’s on their home uniforms. Ryan Hunter and JJ Pickell will serve as alternate captains when the Wolf Pack play on the road.
  • 13 players on the Wolf Pack are back from last season
  • Alex Binette (F) and Nik Jerris (G) are currently the only 20-year olds on the Wolf Pack.

 

Final Words

The Wolf Pack earned their first victory of the season in a 6-3 victory in Surrey. Tonight, marks the second of four meetings between these two clubs. The Wolf Pack are in Surrey on Thursday, December 22. The season series will come to an end on January 14 in North Vancouver.
