As the 2024-25 PJHL season enters its final stretch, it is crunch time for not only for the teams fighting for crucial spots in the standings, but the players as well as they vie for player awards like the prestigious MVP award. Wolf Pack forward David Yoon will surely be in that MVP race after a breakout season. In his second season with the team, Yoon has set career and even franchise records this season, as his goal on January 18th against the Steelers was his 78th point of the season, breaking the single season point record in club history. Yoon currently stands on 88 points and has an average of 2.10 points per game, enough for third in the league and second on the team being just behind the league leader Matteo Pero who has an average of 2.29 points per game. Yoon was one of three Wolf Pack players selected to the 2025 PJHL All-Star game alongside fellow forwards Andrew Casellato and Matteo Pero. The forward has also been featured in the PJHL 3 Stars of the Week and was the Popeye’s Player of the Month in December. Part of Yoon’s success can also be linked to his discipline and noble conduct as he has only spent eight minutes in the penalty box in 42 games played this season. He has also only missed two games. The Wolf Pack number nine’s best game this season was arguably his five-point performance in a 6-3 win in Langley on January 8th. The forward also has multiple four-point performances. As he just trails the lead in points in the tough Tom Shaw Conference and is third league wide, there is no doubt that Yoon has a case for PJHL MVP.
Matteo Pero also broke a record this season. On December 30th he recorded a point in a 6-2 win over the White Rock Whalers that marked 25 straight games with a point.
Another Wolf Pack that has been making a statement is none other than rookie Lucas Davidson. The North Van boy leads all rookies in points with 68, making him a clear cut favourite for Rookie of the Year. Like Yoon, Davidson has also played 42 games and has multiple four point performances including a four goal game in a 9-0 win against the Aldergrove Kodiaks on October 19th.
With record breakers like Yoon and Pero on the team and star rookie Davidson, it will definitely be an interesting end of the regular season for the North Vancouver as the Wolf Pack continue to battle in a tight Tom Shaw Conference.
