WOLF PACK GO DOWN 1-0 IN SERIES

NOTE: The Grandview Steelers failed to broadcast the first two periods of the game which resulted in fans missing the majority of the game.

The North Vancouver Wolf Pack will play Saturday’s contest with their fur against the walls after a tight 4-3 defeat in overtime. The club had goals from Andrew Casellato, Alex Binette, and JJ Pickell while Wolf Pack goaltender Zoltan Bencsik made 31/35 saves. Max Chelico opened the scoring, Mason Brown had two goals and Nathan Bran scored the game-winner with Shayan Kermany making 46/49 saves. Take a look at how things unfolded.

 1st Period:

GRA – Max Chelico opened up the goal-scoring in the Survival Series with exactly one second remaining in the first period. Chelico’s goal was assisted by Pavraj Bandesha and Kaidan Johnson.

2nd Period:

NV –  Andrew Casellato got the good guys on the board at the 2:07 mark of the middle frame. The Italian forward had his goal assisted by JJ Pickell. Both teams would enter the third period with one goal each.

Shots: 14 – 6 North Vancouver

 

3rd Period:

NV –  Alex Binette got the first power-play goal at 3:08 of period three. Binette wired home a shot from the right side of the boards to give his team a 2-1 lead. Daniel Dalla Pace and Trevor Baron snagged assists on the team’s first lead of the game.

NV – Less than a minute after the goal by the Wolf Pack Captain, JJ Pickell decided that it was his turn to put the puck in the net. Daniel Dalla Pace sent Andrew Casellato in on an odd-man rush before Casellato fed the puck to Pickell for a one-time goal. The time of that goal was 4:01.

GRA – Down by two goals the Steelers got within one thanks to a goal from Mason Brown. Brown was undetected by the Wolf Pack defenceman and fooled Zoltan Bencsik on a breakaway to make the score 3-2. Gabriel Adam had an assist on what be Brown’s first of two goals on the evening.

GRA – Mason Brown got his second goal 1:12 after his first. Brown made no mistakes on another breakaway opportunity as he put a backhand shot past the glove of his opposing goaltender. Alec Pettingale was credited with the assist.

3rd Period:

GRA – Nathan Bran crashed the net and put the puck in five-hole on Zoltan Bencsik at the 9:40 mark of overtime. Cameron Lee and Vincent Timperio circled in on the assists.

Shots: 6 – 3 North Vancouver
